It all started with Om Shanti Om.

Eight years ago, I watched my first Bollywood movie, Om Shanti Om, and I was a goner. From the graceful dance moves to the beautiful costumes, I wanted it all.

A former wallflower, I tepidly signed up for my first dance class at YWCA at Berkeley, and fell head over heels over the fun dance moves, energetic music, and the instant camaraderie with my fellow dancers. I liked it so much in fact, I was willing to give up my reserved spot near the wall and come on the stage.

Four months later, I had my first dance performance, and the rest is history.

This year, I will be teaching Bollywood/ Bhangra dance at the place where it all started. Ain't life grand?
